Koreans

I think it's fascinating that anywhere you go in the world, you will always be able to identify Koreans, especially ahjummahs. It's not even based on their facial structure but it is the quintessential permed boycut hairstyle, twinset cardigan, and a designer handbag ranging between LV, Chanel, or classic Gucci and Ferragamo shoes. And of course, either a Rolex or a Cartier on their wrists. God forbid if it's sunny, you see all the ladies moving in synchronized motion: grabbing the nearest magazine and putting it over the head to serve as a visor; more prepared ones whip out an umbrella or a giant brimmed hats and sunglasses.

There seriously had to have been a manual on how to be a Korean ahjummah.

Quote of the Day

Dark matter has a gravitational effect on other objects. You can't see it, you can't feel it, but you can watch something being pulled in its direction. - My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

This says a lot about my current condition.

Uniforms

There is something so sexy about men and women in medical scrubs. Maybe it's from my former Grey's Anatomy obsession these days but out of all the professions that require uniforms, scrubs trumps it by far. It's just not possible to look sexy wearing McDonald's uniform, no offense to those who work at McDonald's.

I want one.

Unspoken Daily Encounter

I've been taking the same bus route for the past 2+ years and it's inevitably common that you run into the same people everyday. I've always took notice of this one fobby couple who seemed to have been recently married. He's the kind of guy who always makes sure to be in front of her with two bus passes and guide her in to reserve two seats for him and his wife. His wife seemed like your typical princess who was lucky enough to have found a man who loves her so much. If anything, I always observed the man over the woman because it's so evident to even a stranger just how much he is in love with his wife. I saw them again today in what seems to be a very long time and she's pregnant! I fought the urge to wish them congratulations because I would be a creep that have stalked them to even know that she's about 4 months pregnant.

This ends my observation for today. I am a creep who stalks random people and their lifestyle. Hah! And Sun is passed out next to me. Good thing I drew on his wrist and his nails with a pen. Surprise! Mooohahhaa.

Discovery

I went to the gym yesterday. I did! I did! And I discovered the art of the cycling machine. Because I am essentially sitting down and peddling, I was able to read a book while working out. I go to an inexpensive gym with a heavy focus on their classes, which is why I first decided to join. But because it's cheap and class-oriented, the tv for the elliptical and treadmill has been down ever since I joined and that was six months ago. I guess no one ever really complains since their workout room is always empty but their membership seems to consistently grow. That has been my excuse for awhile for not going to the gym: don't want to go to cardio-oriented classes because it's hard and don't want to go to the workout room either because the tv isn't working. But with a current book I'm reading (My Sister's Keeper), I stayed on the cycling machine for all 30 minutes with resistance. So proud of myself and I felt so accomplished!

I'm debating whether to switch my gym to NYSC in Englewood. It's $10 more than what I pay now and they offer pilates/yoga classes with no doubt that their tv will ever be down. The only downside is that it's a 10 minute drive from my house as opposed to a 1 minute drive.

Hmmmm. Dilemma.
Now, I've been craving a cranberry orange scone. How about that for breakfast? This is why I need to go to a gym. Sigh.

Currently

Pondering: why do I prefer room temperature water over cold water?

Anticipating: decision?

Excited for: tonight to go to a food tasting with the boyfriend and the bff

Feeling: blah. yet another stupid work day

Carrying: my semi-new red lunchbag!

Wearing: not anything new. hmph.

Sitting: alone on the bus 666! and it's during commuting hour on Monday morning. now this is a miracle my friends.

Surprised by: having to go to another wedding in october. i thought i was done for the year! weddings are things i love to complain about but ultimately, i love weddings! and this one is in newport, rhode island so something new!

Annoyed by: parent returning from korea. it's wonderful having a fully-stocked refrigerator but that also comes with fully-stocked nagging and dictator-like orders from daddy-o. the things i do for food.

Shocked by: how fast the summer sped by. i have yet to do half the things i wanted to do this summer! this blows.

Waiting: for the stupid bus in front of us to move.

Deciding: whether i should splurge today and buy iced coffee as opposed to drinking the office coffee. cheers to the new frugal jasmine!

Relived: that field day is done and over with and also super glad people seemed to have enjoyed themselves! note to self: no more taking on random projects especially based on the excitement of that moment.

Bliss

Sitting outdoors at the Starbucks' patio in 95 degree sunny weather with absolute zero humidity and clear blue sky reading the latest Vanity Fair with a venti iced hazelnut coffee with skim and 2 splendas, listening to korean ballads.

It's only when you lead a crazy, hectic life that you can absolutely indulge and enjoy these simple luxurious moments in life. This is what I call my state of bliss.

Gym

Sometimes, well, all the time, when I sit and think about potentially having to go the gym, I instantly come up with an equal amount of reasons as to why I can't or shouldn't go. Well today, I ran out of excuses. I absolutely and wholeheartedly despise going to the gym. The concept of being on a stupid machine running and moving in the same motion for thirty minutes make me feel like a hamster stuck in a cage. I tried taking classes ranging from kickboxing, pilates, weightlifting, and it's too hard. I didn't mind going to yoga including vinyasa and bikram but I will admit that I liked the "idea" of going more than me actually going. It just sounds feminine to go to yoga after work and walk out in cute body forming outfits with a bottle of chic water in hand.

I am so lame. But I'm sure you've been there too.

In conclusion, I need to stop complaining and being pretentious and just do it for the real reason. My beer belly just has got to go.

Let me revisit this thought after my dinner.

**by the way, i didn't go. excuse? i had to help phil move. hmph.
